St Paul’s students finalists in Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize
Date: February 19, 2018
Two students from St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School were recently announced as finalists in the 2017-2018 Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize at a ceremony held at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne.
Hollie Bugeja, who was in Year 9 last year and a state winner, is a recipient of a ten day overseas study tour that will explore Second World War sites in Darwin and Singapore.
Macy Austin, who was in Year 10 last year and a regional winner, is a recipient of a three day Canberra study tour that will explore significant sites in Canberra, including the Australian War Memorial.
The students are two of 42 winners of study tours and they entered the competition last year as a part of their History studies of World War I and World War II.
Hollie’s entry included a sculpted replica trench wall from World War I complete with artefacts from soldiers “about to go over the edge” and Macy produced a YouTube clip for her entry that highlighted the impact of World War II on Australian society.
The students’ entries have been described as well researched and creative, and their respective tours are a wonderful opportunity for both of them to learn about the service and sacrifice of our veterans.
